Overview



Manage and coordinate existing safety programs and training for new hires and existing employees. This includes, but is not limited to training required by regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, FDA, etc. Ensure all key training requirements are met and records maintained. Lead in the handling of issues involving regulatory agencies to include the city, county, fire, police, OSHA, etc.



Additionally, this position will require hands-on safety procedure development, implementation and training for new or different processes in the plant, and working directly with department managers and employees to schedule and perform needed training requirements.



Examples of some of the programs include: LOTO, Bloodborne pathogens, Forklift (PIT) Training, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Chemical Safety, PPE use, Hearing Testing, First aid, Audits, etc.



Duties



Conduct Training for new hires - Develop, coordinate and record all training for new hires to ensure that new employees have the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the tasks for which they were hired, as well as receive training required to comply with governing regulatory agencies. Conduct Annual/Refresher Training - Develop, coordinate and record annual training for Rich's Ice Cream employees to review key programs and relevant changes in company policies, and ensure compliance with all updated rules and regulations. Also includes reviewing and updating company SOPs and conducting training as as needed. Maintain the recording of training documents electronically and ensure that employee training is performed and up to date. Manage the Safety and Health policy and keep the written policy up to date. Review the policy at least annually and make recommendatons for changes to the Senior Leadership Team. Lead the company safety committee and conduct regular safety meetings. Perform routine safety audits and follow up with necessary corrective actions. Manage the hazardous communication program and prepare all necessary OSHA, Safety, and Workers Compensation reporting. Maintain and keep up to date SDS forms in the Velocity database and on-site documents. Responsible for performing accident investigations, reporting claims to the company's workers compensation carrier, and making safety recommendations and improvements. Work with the HR Manager for workers compensation claims to include the closing of claims and the reducing of reserves on claims. Maintain PPE inventory and selection in designated storage locations. Train employees in proper wearing and use of PPE for tasks requiring the use of PPE. Create safety reporting to be shared routinely with the plant leadership staff.



Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Gain knowledge of changes in state, OSHA, NFPA, and other safety codes and regulations as applicable. Interpret and administer regulatory issues, technical issues, and analytical data to document compliance with environmental health and safety laws and regulations to ensure safety and well-being of employees. Monitors and records functionality and location of emergency equipment and other related items. Plan and coordinate inspections and audits of assigned facilities/sites for procedural compliance, or to maintain appropriate accreditation. Work with other plant departments to provide guidance and consultation regarding hazardous materials, fire safety inspections, and other related activities.



Education and Experience



High School Diploma Prior Training Experience required Prior experience with OSHA, safety, and production environment strongly preferred Must have a strong grasp on how to create presentations in Microsoft Powerpoint.- Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Must have a can do attitude and must possess an engaging personality. Comfortable with public speaking. Flexibility in scheduling as this role will require work on all 3 shifts, as needed.
