Summary

The Iowa Barnstormers Football Club is a dynamic, locally owned, highly successful franchise that plays in the Indoor Football League. Based in Des Moines, Iowa, the team has established a strong, loyal fan base and is looking for energetic, professional, and self-motivated interns to assist in preparations for the 2025 season. This opportunity is available to current college-level students looking to gain real-world sales experience and position themselves for a career in the event and/or sports industry upon graduation. 

Our emphasis is to provide significant challenges, varying daily operational requirements, and opportunity for creativity, resourcefulness, and excellence. Our program is based on teaching the fundamentals of ticket sales including prospecting, cold calling, and conducting meetings. The focus of our Fall Sales Interns will be season ticket package sales and group sales. The focus of the program will be adjusted based on the needs of the organization. 

This internship position is paid hourly with the opportunity to earn commission.  

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Learn best practices for selling season and group ticket packages
  • Assist with the distribution of sales and promotional materials
  • Participate in regularly scheduled office hours 
  • Participate in grassroots marketing activities in the Greater Des Moines community with the purpose of fan development and sales lead generation
  • Learn and process orders using the Paciolan ticketing system
  • Participate in weekly meetings to discuss sales goals, leads, and strategies for driving new business 
  • Other duties as assigned by Barnstormers management

Skills and Qualifications
  • Earning college degree in sports, sales, marketing, or related fields
  • Must have a strong interest in sales field
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to provide own transportation
 This internship will begin in the Fall and continue through the end of March. Fall Sales Interns will have the opportunity to continue their position through the season to experience in-season sales, marketing, and customer service duties.
