Holyoke Community College is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part-Time Food Pantry Manager / Storekeeper II to oversee the operations of our food pantry, ensuring efficient distribution of food to individuals and families in need within our campus community. Under the general direction of the Thrive Center's Coordinator and the AVP of Student Affairs, the Storekeeper II will play a crucial role in managing resources, coordinating volunteers and staff, and maintaining effective relationships with donors and partner organizations.

  • Operations Management:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the food pantry, including inventory management, stocking shelves, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Coordinate food and resource collection, storage, and distribution processes to ensure efficient operations and minimal waste.Develop and implement operational procedures to streamline pantry activities and enhance service delivery.Work Study/Volunteer Coordination:Assist the Thrive Center Coordinator in recruiting, training, and supervising a diverse team of work-study students/volunteers.Schedule volunteer shifts and ensure adequate coverage to maintain smooth operations.Client Assistance:Oversee the distribution of food to eligible campus community members, ensuring fair and equitable access to resources.Provide excellent customer service to pantry clients, addressing inquiries and concerns in a respectful and compassionate manner.Community Engagement:Maintain positive relationships with donors, campus partners, community organizations, and government agencies to secure food donations and financial support.Support the Thrive Center Coordinator in organizing food drives and fundraising events.Administrative Duties:Maintain accurate records of food inventory, distribution, and volunteer hours.Prepare reports for organizational leadership and funding agencies as required.Manage budgetary responsibilities, ensuring fiscal accountability and efficiency in resource allocation.

REQUIRED: 

1-3 years’ experience in nonprofit management, food service, or a related field.Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact compassionately with diverse populations.Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office). Valid driver’s license.Ability to lift and move light boxes of food (15 lbs.).Commitment to the mission and values of Holyoke Community College, with a passion for addressing food insecurity and serving vulnerable populations.EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT:  Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them for the responsibilities of this position.

PREFERRED: 
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.Experience with database management.

Part-time/Non-Benefited Position

Compensation: $19.00/hour

Hours: 18.5 hours/week; flexible hours, may include some evenings and weekendsFunding:  State
