The heart of our high-throughput genetic laboratory is an automated sequencing platform that integrates advanced software with robotics, databases, distributed bioinformatics pipelines, and data-visualization platforms (see a video of the lab in action here).
The R&D team is working on cutting-edge research to improve and expand the actionable information in our existing products and to launch new ones. We are looking for a talented Staff Scientist who's excited to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment with other scientists and mechanical engineers. As part of the R&D team, you will work on writing code to bring cutting-edge research to millions of patients* Lead and mentor a team of dry bench scientists and software engineers, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive late-stage R&D projects focused on computational biology, data analytics, and software engineering* Oversee the end-to-end execution and validation of computational projects and data science initiatives, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.* Work closely with software engineers to develop tools that accelerate R&D development processes.* We work with hardware engineers, assay development scientists, production lab scientists, bioinformaticians, maintenance engineers, and more.* Work with robots and chemistry
D. in Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.* Proven industry experience (7+ years) in computational biology, data science and/or engineering field and 1+years in a leadership role.* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.* Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data visualization techniques.* Strong knowledge of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, bioinformatics pipelines, and genomics data analysis* Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.* Industry experience working with web application development is a plus. We use Django as a web framework and React for front-end development* Experience with embedded systems is a plus.* Relational database experience. Experience with Unix, Git, and other command-line tools.* Interest and/or exposure to genetics
