You will be reporting to an Operations Research manager and this will be a hybrid role.
About the RoleOperations Research Scientists on the Assignment team have the opportunity to dive into a wealth of logistics data, and use advanced optimization and machine learning techniques to maximize the value for our consumers, dashers, merchants, and DoorDash.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will:- Design and implement new algorithm components within our production dispatching system to meet emerging requirements.
- Integrate state-of-the-art optimization and machine learning techniques to improve the efficiency and quality of our dispatching decisions.
- Extract insights from logistics system through analyzing data and modeling and translate those insights into production algorithm components.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, business operators, and more to develop cross-cutting and scalable solutions to guide value for our consumers, dashers, and merchants.
- PhD or master's in operations research, industrial engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of research or industry experience working on complex optimization problems through mathematical programming or metaheuristics.
- Programming fundamentals, experience in object-oriented and functional programming languages, and an understanding of algorithms.
