The CNO is an inspirational mission-driven leader who possesses the organizational and political skills to successfully lead the transformation of nursing and interdisciplinary care delivery across all settings of care within the North Division. The CNO is an exemplary role model of the highest professional nursing standards and conduct, is the “voice” and advocate for nursing and interdisciplinary care strategy and operational initiatives and performs all duties in a manner that reflects the Providence mission and values.
This position has overall accountability for nursing and interdisciplinary leadership, strategic direction, quality, and outcomes of care.
In partnership with the Executive and Operations Leadership Team, the CNO leads in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the quality of clinical care across the full clinical care continuum. The position is responsible for driving a service-oriented culture focused on superior patient experience, employee engagement, quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency. The CNO sets and enforces standards for professional nursing practice including leadership development, educational requirements, and workforce goals and targets.
The position advocates for strategic patient care priorities with internal and external constituents and stakeholders to ensure optimal operating effectiveness, market positioning, and quality outcomes.
The CNO collaborates closely with Providence system and regional colleagues to achieve system and regional quality outcomes, and priority strategic clinical initiatives. The position serves as a member of the Operations Leadership Team and the North Division nursing leadership team.

Extraordinary Healthcare Executive
Advances nursing and clinical practice and ensures quality outcomes for people and families served,
Demonstrates expert knowledge of nursing and interdisciplinary practice and articulates patient care standards in compliance with internal policies and external regulatory agencies.
Establishes quality improvement goals and outcomes in collaboration with quality and clinical partners.
Leads the (re)design of delivery models to achieve patient safety, quality outcomes and flawless handovers.
Applies healthcare funding, economics, accounting, and regulatory principles.
Represents nursing and interdisciplinary services to senior leadership teams and governing boards.
Ensures robust patient safety and risk management programs and actions.
Demonstrates stewardship of human and financial resources.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing from accredited school of nursing; Master’s Degree in nursing or relevant field, Doctoral degree in relevant field preferred.
Relevant nursing leadership and/or health care executive external industry certification strongly preferred.
Previous experience with shared leadership structure is required.
