Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Materials and Process Engineer/Sr. Principal Materials and Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position may be filled by either a Principal Materials and Pro Mechanical Engineer level or a Sr. Principal Materials and Process Engineer level based on the qualifications listed. The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.
Principal Materials and Process Engineer (T03):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 3 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM.
Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) (Not needed to start)
Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Principal Materials and Process Engineer (T04):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 9 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 7 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related filed with 4 years of experience.
Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start (Not needed to start)
Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Experience with working on military aircraft
Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science
Experience with material Obsolescence issues and qualifying materials
Experience with LO materials
