John Hospital to provide medical services to Family Medicine patients.

The Family Medicine Residency Program was established in 1973.
There are seven residents per year in the program.
The well-established family medicine residency clinic is in St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
There are 500 clinic visits per week. Types of outpatient visits include full scope family medicine and office procedures.
The clinic hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00am-7:00pm and Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
The clinic/residency team includes eight faculty physicians, a PhD behavioral medicine specialist, a care coordinator and a pharmacy team. John Hospital is a not for profit healthcare organization and meets requirements for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinates discharge planning with case management.
Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
John Hospital
John Hospital was founded in 1952 and is a regional referral teaching hospital.
We provide comprehensive accredited training to over 200 resident physicians, 30 fellows, and 56 core medical students in accordance to ACGME requirements.
Level I Trauma Center with a Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure Center accreditation
Named a Blue Distinction Center in both cardiovascular and orthopedic care by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network
Averaging 28,000 admissions, 3,000 births, 15,000 inpatient/outpatient surgeries and over 105,000 ER visits annually
Clair and the five Grosse Pointe communities; private parks, boutique shops, art galleries, coffee shops and restaurants
Home to Belle Isle Island and Aquarium, Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Opera House, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Fisher Theatre, and four professional sports teams

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
Board eligible in Family Medicine required.
Board certified in Family Medicine with experience and passion for teaching preferred.
Experience in research and an area of interest within Family Medicine that may enhance the educational experience of the residents is highly desirable (i.e., palliative care, wound care, sports medicine, or womens health).
