About the International Catholic Migration Commission, Inc.
The International Catholic Migration Commission, Inc. (is incorporated in the USA as a 501c3, tax-exempt organization that serves as the fundraising branch for global programming of the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC). These two ICMC-related structures work collaboratively to secure crucial financial resources. The primary goal of ICMC, Inc. is to provide vital support for the global programs and services directly offered by ICMC, as well as to ICMC national member Catholic Bishops' Conferences worldwide, and other Catholic-inspired organizations.
ICMC addresses the challenges people face on the move and in their communities, advocating for rights-based policies and durable solutions. Through its extensive worldwide membership of Catholic Bishops Conferences and partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations, ICMC maintains a direct operational, advocacy, and partnership presence in every region, making a profound impact on some of the most vulnerable populations globally.
Established in 1951 and operating under the guidance of the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and Vatican Secretariat of State, ICMC, maintains a commitment to inclusive service to all migrants and refugees in need, without regard for religious, ethnic, cultural, or political affiliations., Thus, it collaborates with governments, non-governmental organizations, and religious institutions. As the Executive Director of ICMC, Inc., you will be at the helm, guiding and managing all aspects of our daily operations. With a strong focus on donor cultivation and major gift solicitation from individuals, corporations, and foundations, you will be instrumental in expanding our donor base.
Based in the vibrant city of Washington, DC, this role offers opportunities for relocation and potential remote work. you will work closely with the ICMC General Secretary General and ICMC management and program staff worldwide, in advancing the promotion of the organization's mission and sustainability on a global scale. Embodying a profound commitment to ICMC's mission, your leadership contributes to the global implementation of ICMC Strategic Framework and Work plan for 2022-2026 and thus will serve as a beacon of inspiration to donors interested in supporting ICMC as it restores dignity and inspires change for migrants and refugees worldwide. Your service to ICMC will require exceptional skills in leadership, management, fund-raising team-building with staff, and relation-building with current and new donors. Fundraising and Communication (65%): Driving ICMC's fundraising efforts, securing financial resources through direct mail, major donor engagement, partnerships, digital outreach, and innovative private giving initiatives. Establishing strong relationships with donors and partners, including church-based networks, is vital for the organization's financial sustainability and growth.


~ Leadership and Operations (20%): Providing strategic direction and leadership to staff and volunteers, and collaboration with board members, to ensure effective delivery of the organization's mission and goals. Financial Management (5%): Overseeing budgeting, fundraising, financial reporting, compliance, risk management, and stakeholder relations at the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), Inc. nonprofit, ensuring financial stability, integrity, and growth through strategic decision-making and resource allocation and close cooperation with the ICMC Secretary General, Chief of Operations, Chief Financial Officer based in Geneva, and the other members of the ICMC Strategic Management Group in various field and affiliate offices spread throughout the world


~ Program Operations (5%): Collaborating with the global team, you will join ICMC Executive Leadership and management-level leaders spearheading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives aimed at assisting refugees and migrants. These efforts cover a range of areas such as refugee resettlement, protective services, advocacy, and strengthening the capabilities of local organizations.


~ Communicating about ICMC policies and practices to safeguard the rights of refugees and migrants through the organization's engagement with policymakers, international bodies, donors, and other interested stakeholders. Such strategic partnerships are vital for advancing the organization's goals.


Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in fund development and management; Graduate-level training is a plus.

~ Proven track record of developing and growing fundraising results from a variety of sources (direct marketing, major gifts, planning giving and private foundations).
Financial acumen, including budget management.
Excellent communication, and networking skills:
Superior written and oral communication skills in English; proficiency in additional ICMC official languages (Spanish, French) is a plus.

Cultural competence and sensitivity when working with donors, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
Adaptability and innovation in addressing emerging challenges in the fund-raising and humanitarian sectors.
~ Strong commitment to Catholic Church-related teaching and values, especially as they are put into practice by supporting and protecting migrants, refugees, and vulnerable populations.


Travel Requirements
Availability to travel, mainly in the United States with some travel outside of the United States.
