Summary

The primary purpose of the Visual Information Specialist is to grasp the narrative behind data, preparing materials to share with project teams, stakeholders, and leadership, while also conducting user research and developing reports to optimize the National Gallery's digital platforms and programs by identifying trends and opportunities.



Duties

As the Visual Information Specialist you will:

  • Help define and report on quantitative and qualitative Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other key metrics across all public-facing digital channels (e.g., websites, social media, YouTube, mobile apps, podcasts, etc.)
  • Extract, analyze, manipulate, and synthesize data using tools like Google Analytics 4 and Supermetrics to measure and report on user behavior.
  • Perform complex ad hoc queries and analyses that combine multiple tools and data sources and types, including analysis for other stakeholders/projects as needed.
  • Lead analytics work in key areas that influence digital product development, content and distribution strategy, marketing, and public program performance.
  • Design and build automated solutions for business intelligence and reporting dashboards in partnership with the Chief of Digital Product and Experience and the Chief Digital Officer using museum-approved products like Google Looker Studio and Tableau.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and experience pivoting and navigating dynamic and changing situations.
  • Develop and deliver analysis and insights with actionable recommendations that drive strategic and tactical decisions related to public-facing digital platform optimization and overall strategy.
  • Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and analysis for product managers and stakeholders, using clear and creative data presentation skills.
  • Collaborate with product managers to integrate analytics into all public-facing digital platforms and channels.
  • Advise/provide training to internal stakeholders in the use of analytics tools and data literacy. Refine and build upon department-wide data analytics program.
