Position Title:

Machine Operator


Function:

The Machine Operator reports directly to the production supervisor and is responsible for operating various types of equipment according to completed training, competency, and proven skills. The machine operator role is an essential part of production operations and is directly responsible to ensure the machine produces the highest quality of products, runs smoothly with minimal downtime, and at highest capacity possible. Additionally, this role involves a variety of other duties within the production area to ensure optimal workflow of the filling and packaging of Developlus Inc. products, including but not limited to the cleaning of filling equipment, helping in general labor areas when needed, performing production housekeeping, and assisting with team members training in the absence of the department lead.


Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs equipment set-up and start-up before production begins
  • Observes machine operations to ensure highest output possible
  • Monitors machinery and componentry flow to decrease unplanned stops
  • Verifies componentry against work order requirements
  • Brings componentry into designated areas according to work order requirements
  • Troubleshoots minor equipment issues when malfunctions occur
  • Reports significant equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or maintenance as needed
  • Accurately completes work order documentation
  • Performs periodic weights, pack out, and coding verifications throughout the day to minimize non-conforming products
  • Conducts interval checks to ensure quality of packaged products
  • Records quality verifications in SPC
  • Ensures helping associates are following product specifications
  • Participates in other activities, such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping floors, organizing storage areas
  • Adheres to the highest standards of company policies, safety programs, guidelines, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, lead, or manager
  • Record and maintain the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)


Requirements:

  • Strong work ethic, individual will be required to be consistently at work and on time
  • Individual must possess good mathematical skills
  • Able to work in a high-paced environment
  • Able to withstand strong odors from the products being processed
  • Ability to work at a fast and consistent pace for the purpose of keeping up with schedule demands
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members is required
  • Flexible and adaptable to change in work assignments
  • This position requires an individual that is results driven and teamwork oriented
  • Must be safety cautious and quality minded


Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent of work experience is required
  • 1-year experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment; preferably in cosmetics process manufacturing


Language Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisor


Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic math skills required


Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to understand basic commands and ability to adhere to safety regulations


Physical Demands:

This role will be actively working in a standard manufacturing and warehouse setting. Must be able to lift 50 pounds in a regular basis and operate high speed machinery. The role also requires frequent stooping, bending, lifting, and walking for the full duration of the workday.


Work Environment:

This role’s time will be spent on the production floor around high-speed machinery, moving equipment, medium levels of noise, wet conditions and varying temperatures depending on the time of year. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and some chemicals, and varying weather temperatures depending on the time of year.
