Position Summary

 

Structural/Piping Mechanical Designer I/II/III

The structural/civil engineering drafter is responsible for the digital designs and drawings. As the computer-aided design operator, the drafter will prepare and produce models based on client specifications and communicates with Project Engineer through all phases of the project.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting plans/drawings for construction for various clients in chemical and manufacturing/industrial environments
  • Create Structural/Civil Models, drawings, calculations, weight estimates, and supporting documentation in collaboration with the Project Engineer and Sr. Engineer
  • Check design work of layouts, including form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts, geometrics, dimensioning, and other information as directed.
  • Utilize computer-aided design in Autodesk products such as Autodesk Inventor and Revit
  • Document all client and regulatory specifications
  • Work closely with the Project Engineer to ensure that his or her design is clearly communicated on the drawings
  • Travel as needed to gather field data

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, or experience plus an associate degree or relevant technical degree in drafting or design
  • Minimum of 3 years drafting/design experience for structures in industrial/manufacturing settings
  • Experience with API, NFPA, and ASME codes and standards
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as customer blueprints, codes, specifications, and government standards

Experience in AutoCAD Plant3D

  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD/Revit (any combination thereof)
  • Drafting experience in heavy industrial and manufacturing environments is considered a plus, but not required
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion — both written and verbal

·        Experience working on multidisciplinary design and construction projects

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Exceptional proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Inventor software

·        Professional Piping Designer (PPD) Certification

·        Previous Civil/Structural drafting engineering experience

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

·        Proficient with the computer and navigating CAD software

·        Proficient in all Microsoft products including Microsoft teams for meetings

·        Communicate with stakeholders
