Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking an experienced SolidWorks Designer in the Germantown, TN office for a contract to full time hire. The SolidWorks Designer is responsible for transforming initial rough draft product designs into workable designs using computer-assisted engineering and design software.

Job Duties:

• Modify the design of architectural components of elevator systems, including entrances, cabs, and signal fixtures, to meet customer expectations.

• Read sales documents and specifications to fully understand customer requirements.

• Create and update simple designs per abstracts, layouts, submittals, and approved established design drawings.

• Create and update simple technical drawings from ideas, concepts, instructions and diagrams and transform into workable designs for non-standard product configurations.

Transform initial rough draft product designs into simple 2D and 3D models, assembly drawings, and shop instructions using SolidWorks, and Windchill.

• Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure accuracy and adherence to established specifications and standards.

• Achieve proficiency in the design methods of over 50% of the product line with focus on a single component area (entrances, cabs, signals).

• Work under close supervision for coaching, training and skill development.

• Effectively communicate and share information and ideas individually.

• Identify problems and provide suggestions for possible solutions.

• Meets metrics for safety, quality, delivery and cost as a general function of the role.

• Able to visualize simple multi-dimensional designs and how they relate as parts to the whole

• Ability to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the functions of the job required

• Ability to understand requirements and goals of projects to produce workable designs according to job specifications required

• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend technical drawings and survey data required

• Ability to attain and maintain a good understanding of the product line and design procedures

• Ability to maintain assignments and meet deadlines to adhere to the shop production schedule

• Strong customer service skills

• Ability to work well within a team environment

Requirements:

• Associate’s Degree or Technical School Certification required. Relevant experience considered in lieu of education.

• 2 + years of design/drafting or similar experience, preferably in an architectural, structural, or mechanical design environment.

• Proven experience in SolidWorks. Experience in windchill is a plus

• General knowledge and experience with Bill of Material structure

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
