Project Engineer | Heavy Civil Construction | Kauai


Qualifications

• Ability to live and work on Kauai

• Construction field experience, preferably in Heavy Civil Construction (roadway, concrete, asphalt, earthworks, mass grading, bridge, water, wastewater, storm etc.)

• Work experience as a project engineer, field engineer, or superintendent

• Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related. Or on the job experience. 

• Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on plans, specifications, and contract documents

• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in tropical environments

• Motivated, strong work ethic and an ability to take the initiative

• Knowledge and implementation of safety standards 

• Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

• Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

• Reliable attendance, work productively and meet deadlines


Responsibilities

• Our Project Engineers support construction activities by planning, organizing and implementing those management duties (i.e., submittals and RFI’s project controls systems, subcontract and materials management, purchasing, scheduling, etc.)

• Read and understand plans and specifications

• Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures and take corrective actions as needed

• Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel

• Manage document control; receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents; maintain document control log

• Review new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes and review with supervisor; distribute new issues to field

• Prepare monthly cost projections using information generated from project management systems

• Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions

• Manage and support project team including direct reports and others as needed

• Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level

• Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor time sheets
