Project Engineer | Heavy Civil Construction | Kauai

Qualifications

Ability to live and work on Kauai

Construction field experience, preferably in Heavy Civil Construction (roadway, concrete, asphalt, earthworks, mass grading, bridge, water, wastewater, storm etc.)

Work experience as a project engineer, field engineer, or superintendent

Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related. Or on the job experience.

Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on plans, specifications, and contract documents

Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in tropical environments

Motivated, strong work ethic and an ability to take the initiative

Knowledge and implementation of safety standards

Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

Reliable attendance, work productively and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

Our Project Engineers support construction activities by planning, organizing and implementing those management duties (i.e., submittals and RFIs project controls systems, subcontract and materials management, purchasing, scheduling, etc.)

Read and understand plans and specifications

Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures and take corrective actions as needed

Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel

Manage document control; receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents; maintain document control log

Review new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes and review with supervisor; distribute new issues to field

Prepare monthly cost projections using information generated from project management systems

Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions

Manage and support project team including direct reports and others as needed

Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level

Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor time sheets
