This opportunity resides within our construction management services division of Defender Contracting & Construction (DCC) at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. DCC supports the 628th Contracting & Construction Squadron's mission to plan, build, maintain, and repair base facilities crucial to the 628th Air Base Wing's mission-critical services. As a General Contractor in the Federal market, we provide efficient and reliable solutions to meet our clients' most demanding construction needs.
DCC is a dedicated SABER (Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements) contractor. We work with military installations to streamline the process of awarding and executing maintenance, repair, and minor construction projects. As a SABER contractor, DCC brings expertise in managing high-volume, quick-turnaround projects, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to stringent government standards.
What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a motivated Construction Project Manager to join our team. This role involves supporting the DCC team by managing and overseeing various multi-trade construction projects ranging from $2,500 to $1,000,000 in size. This role involves managing projects at different stages, negotiating contracts, leading project personnel, and managing stakeholder and client relationships -all guided by the DCC corporate office.

Responsibilities of the Construction Project Manager:
- Oversee and manage construction projects to include; scope development, estimating, subcontractor management on a regular basis for multiple, concurrent projects
- Manage multiple concurrent project deliverables
- Attend site visits with Government civil engineers to develop site visit notes and scopes, work with the team to develop comprehensive and detailed estimates
- Perform project buyout with Subcontracting trade partners
- Negotiate project (line item) estimates with clients
- Perform data entry requirements utilizing ProCore software
- Coordinate submittals for all active projects
- Oversee all stages of the project life cycle
- Manage project budget
- Provide timely status reports to stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned by DCC senior leadership
What We Are Looking For:
The candidate is required to have ONE of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline relevant to construction
- Bachelor's degree in architecture
- 15 years of relevant experience as a primary manager of a contract similar in nature to S.A.B.E.R.
- 15 years managing a general contracting firm engaged in similar multiple discipline commercial construction projects
In addition to the above requirement:
- Candidate must be able to access a US Military installation (Pre-Employment criminal, DMV, and U.S. Citizenship)
- Candidate must have five (5) years of multi-trade construction project management experience
- Candidate must have two (2) years supervisory experience
- Candidate must have strong organizational and project management skills
- Candidate must have strong subcontractor and vendor management experience
- Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
Bonus Points For Having:
- 5+ years of federal construction experience - SABER, JOCC, MACC, MATOC is highly valued and will provide the candidate with a deeper understanding of DCC's project scope and client expectations.
