Project Design Engineer

As a Project Design Engineer, you will be a key member in designing, documenting, testing/commissioning, and/or bidding on electronic security installation projects. You should understand how to interpret physical security standards, drawings, bill of materials, request for proposals, and submittal requirements provided by the client. The expectations are to be fully engaged with the different stakeholders on your respective projects, keeping consistent communication and track of deadlines.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Responsible for all technical submittals for delivering security projects.
  • Oversee and manage a team of engineers, project managers, and field technicians
  • Support project lifecycle of large-scale construction project.
  • Support multiple project tasks concurrently.
  • Participate in coordination calls with the engineering team and designated project manager to ensure proper communication and delivery.
  • Primarily lead security design and make sure it meets customer standards
  • Track revisions, RFIs, and submittals throughout project lifecycle.
  • Provide in-person support for Pre-Installation Testing and Field Commissioning.

Specific requirements include:

  • Hybrid role - must willing to go to San Jose office and have flexibility to commute to project sites in the Bay Area.
  • Circa 5+ years of project engineering delivery experience and ideally 2+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • Physical security technology and design experience is required
  • Bid experience with design takeoffs, bill of materials, and cost estimates is a plus.
  • Certification including PMP, PSP and other similar certs are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
