Laboratory Technician


Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Laboratory Technician for a 3–6-month contract-to-hire position at a cutting-edge client located in Vancouver, WA. Pay: $22/hour


Overview:


The client is a leading innovator in drug discovery This role will join the BioServices team, which provides essential support to scientific teams by maintaining lab spaces, equipment, and media prep. You will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to innovative scientific endeavors.


Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM


Responsibilities:

  • General lab cleaning: benchtops, instrumentation, equipment, freezers, and floors.
  • Properly package and manage regulated medical and liquid waste, ensuring correct labeling and reporting issues.
  • Operate industrial dishwashers and autoclaves for labware cleaning.
  • Perform periodic maintenance on lab equipment and instrumentation.
  • Decontaminate gowning room shelves and clean shoes monthly.
  • Prepare custom and standard agar plates, maintain stock, and manage orders as requested.
  • Maintain and stock discrete strains and libraries as part of the DWS workflow.
  • Complete reference material requests in Benchling.
  • Prepare media and stock solutions for scientific teams.
  • Additional responsibilities as directed by the department head.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Basic laboratory skills including pipetting, aseptic technique, and media prep.
  • Mechanically inclined with a general knowledge of instrumentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Asana, and Benchling.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with direction and deliver high-quality results.
  • Physically capable of walking, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
