Job Summary:
The Safety Manager will be responsible for the overall safety program of the civil contracting company. They will develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure the safety of employees and the general public. The Safety Manager will work with all departments and employees to maintain compliance with safety regulations and ensure a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage safety policies, procedures, and programs for the company
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and investigations to identify and correct safety hazards
- Work with project managers and supervisors to ensure safety compliance on all job sites
- Provide safety training to employees and ensure all safety training is up-to-date
- Stay up-to-date with safety regulations and best practices in the industry
- Investigate accidents and near-misses and develop plans to prevent future incidents
- Manage workers' compensation claims and maintain accurate records
- Ensure that safety equipment and PPE are available and used appropriately
- Monitor safety performance and develop improvement plans as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management in the construction industry
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety practices, and procedures
- Ability to lead and manage a safety team and work effectively with all levels of employees
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to analyze and solve problems
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
