Ward Electric Company, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Desktop Support Manager to work out of its Longmont, Colo. office. The position will oversee the desktop computing environment across multiple locations, ensuring all hardware, software, and network systems function smoothly. In this hands-on leadership role, you will manage a team of desktop support analysts, resolve escalated technical issues, and develop strategies to enhance user satisfaction and IT efficiency. This position is ideal for a proactive problem-solver who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with diverse technical challenges.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of desktop support analysts.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the performance and reliability of desktop environments.
  • Monitor and respond to escalated support tickets, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to manage system upgrades, patching, and software deployments.
  • Maintain inventory of IT assets and ensure software licenses are compliant.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to end-users to improve productivity.
  • Assist with IT support during critical periods, such as storm deployments, to ensure operational continuity.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to align IT support with company goals.

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems (Windows, MacOS) and Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) tools and ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of the following is a plus - M365 - Microsoft Entra ID - Microsoft Endpoint manager - SharePoint - Teams. 
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and endpoint security solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing IT operations in multi-site environments is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to remote job sites, as needed.
