Position Description:

  • Responsible for supporting the safety design of body structure, chassis, fuel system, and /or occupant restraint systems and subsystems using CAE simulation or physical test.
  • Use analysis tools to guide component and system design through optimization to meet regulatory requirements and public domain targets.
  • Responsible for the development of new analytical and physical verification procedures in an effort to reduce physical testing and improve CAE model and/or test accuracy.
  • Understanding of the principles related to vehicle component and occupant kinematics in various vehicle crash test modes.

Skills Required:
  • Demonstrated experience in LS-DYNA and its application in Crash Safety
  • Knowledge of vehicle structures, chassis systems, fuel systems, and occupant restraint systems
  • Strong knowledge of FEA and numerical analysis
  • Experience with Crash Safety development process and what it takes to deliver a vehicle program
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with strong desire to work in a team environment

Skills Preferred:
  • Strong knowledge of designing for: Pedestrian Protection, Front Impact / Safety Structures (high and low speed modes), Side Impact, Occupant protection (front/side)

Experience Required:
  • 5+ years of experience with numerical analysis with DYNA

Education Required:
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or related degree
