Job Summary:

Optimal CAE is seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer - Model Based Developer to accelerate the use of automation in the simulation and software development processes. The ideal candidate will focus on driving breakthroughs in development and testing efficiency by working with various Ford software, controls, and simulation teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop desktop and cloud solutions to increase speed and robustness of the embedded control software build, simulation, and test pipeline.
Collaborate with teams to understand their workflow of software development and virtual testing, and develop solutions to automate the build environment, simulation environment, and to verify and validate the embedded vehicle control software.
Create web-based tools and standard dashboards to share simulation and software build and test status information with development teams.
Develop state-of-the-art cloud-based solutions for simulation and software build and test, utilizing High Performance Compute and cloud environments.

Requirements:

Master's degree in engineering or computer science.
3+ years of experience in Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow, programming (Python, C, C++, Java, or Matlab m-script), and version control and automation (ClearCase, AccuRev, GitHub, Jenkins).
1+ year of experience in cloud-based tools (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Automotive / Computer Engineering or Controls related field.
3+ years of experience in automotive controls or systems engineering.
Significant experience with Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, and experience with CAN networks and tools (CANalyzer, CANape, ATI Vision, etc.).
Experience in embedded controls in electrified vehicle systems, driver assist technologies, and requirements definition, decomposition, design verification.
Experience with hands-on software testing and problem solving in simulation, hardware in the loop systems, and prototype vehicles.
Broad understanding of embedded control system design and analysis techniques.

Experience with tools for:

Virtualization environment tools (Docker, Vagrant).
Deployment tools (Habitat, Chef).
Containerization (Kubernetes).
Automation (Jenkins).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to create new solutions, work in large team environments, and interface with technical experts.
