Duties and Responsibilities:

New process/Product Development Pipeline:

  • Responsible for technical evaluation of all new processes and projects and assessing viability.
  • Coordinate customer trials and provide support to engineers, operators, laboratory, and EHS&S to ensure successful trials.
  • Work closely with the Sales team to ensure effective communication with customers and delivery of their agreed-upon expectations.
  • Support general Chemical and Laboratory work as needed to develop customer chemical processes or to prove-out technology.
  • Lead and ensure adherence to the processes for safely, effectively developing new chemistry processes on our sites.
  • Develop technical processes for new projects including but not limited: process flow diagrams, SOP/batch instructions, quality parameters and test methods, engineering assignments and assessments and trial plans.
  • Closely coordinate new opportunities and scale-up activities with the Commercial and Production teams.
  • Champion and continually improve New Product Development (NPD) to meet customers’ needs.

Leadership and team management:

  • Lead and recruit, as needed, a team of engineers and chemists to develop and execute all new projects and products across the business. Ensure their training and development into a flexible, efficient element of sales growth for the company.
  • Responsible for the laboratory resources at all sites, including R&D manager, chemists, and technicians.
  • Responsible for the development and recruitment, as needed, of engineers for supporting pilot, commercial and production trials.

Other:

  • Assist in design and development of capital projects for the division as needed.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • BS Chemical Engineering/Chemistry, master’s or higher preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5 -10 years of engineering and management experience.
  • Proven track record of developing and leading Chemical processes and assessing new chemical manufacturing projects/opportunities.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing engineers and technical staff.
  • Experience with PSM and RMP covered processes.
  • Experienced in Process Hazard Analysis and Root Cause Investigations.
  • Solid team player and can work up and down the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Hazardous chemical experience highly desired.
  • Must possess excellent organization, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Results oriented, self-starter who works well independently and understands expectations.
