Job Description 

Select Chemistry’s Analytical Chemist will conduct routine chemical analyses in support of our mission to provide high quality products to our customers. The Chemist will be expected to produce accurate and repeatable results. This position will require an individual capable of working independently to meet daily work requirements.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to

  • Perform analyses on raw materials and finished products following a written SOP.
  • Work may include the use of specialized laboratory equipment including but not limited to: Viscometer, UV/Vis Spec, PPA, Auto-Titrator, Flow Loop, etc.
  • Perform analyses in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
  • Calibrating and maintaining calibration records on testing equipment.
  • Must be willing to work some weekends (schedule alternates with other employees).
  • Occasional travel might be required but will not be a routine part of the job.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 8 hours of college chemistry and/or 1 year of previous work experience in a laboratory is required.
  • 2 year of previous work experience in a laboratory environment is preferred, but not required.
  • B.S in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related science is preferred, but not required.
  • Good computer skills and able to use Microsoft Office Products with a focus on Excel.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with other employees.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to come to work on time with a professional attitude.
  • Prior experience in an oil and gas industry laboratory is preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands and Exposures

  • This position works inside a climate-controlled environment.  The Company will supply adequate training and equipment to perform the functions of the job.
  • Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm.
  • Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Needs high degree of concentration in a busy area.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
