We are a dynamic online magazine dedicated to delivering the latest news, stories, and trends to our readers in Michigan. Our mission is to inform, engage, and inspire our community through high-quality journalism and captivating content.


We are seeking a motivated and creative intern to join our Public Relations and Social Media Marketing team. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates who are passionate about media, public relations, and social media marketing. The intern will gain hands-on experience and contribute to our online presence and community engagement efforts.


The Internship is Unpaid, Start Date is June 1, 2024, duration 3 months. Must be available for Saturday in-person staff meetings


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of PR campaigns and strategies.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other PR materials.
  • Manage and grow our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Create engaging content, including posts, graphics, and videos, for social media platforms.
  • Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media in a timely manner.
  • Analyze social media metrics and prepare reports to track the effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to promote articles and features.
  • Support event planning and promotion activities.
  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities for audience engagement.


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university with a major in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and tools.
  • Basic graphic design skills (experience with Canva or similar tools is a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Creative thinking and a proactive attitude.
