We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Corporate Paralegal to professionally provide legal and administrative support to the Business Operations Department at the Navy League of the United States. This position will aide in the preparation, negotiation, and execution of legal instruments, maintain files and calendars, and draft other documents as needed. The successful candidate will establish efficient contract documentation flow and department compliance, as required by agreements, while also managing the legal department’s meetings, scheduling, and administrative task flows. This position reports to the Executive Vice President of Business Operations and General Counsel.


Duties and Responsibilities will include:


  • Works collaboratively with assigned attorney and support staff in preparing legal documentation and/or processing transactions.
  • Drafts legal documents, affidavits, correspondence, memoranda, and letters.
  • Investigates factual information to respond to legal and other information inquiries.
  • Performs legal research and analysis as requested using appropriate reference sources, then compiles, analyzes, and summarizes data.
  • Performs factual and technical investigation and analysis of project issues.
  • Assists with the development, negotiation, and execution of contracts to meet business requirements.
  • Reviews contracts and agreements and compares to previous drafts and to standard terms and conditions.
  • Drafts form documents and board resolutions and meeting minutes.
  • Creates and oversees an ongoing maintenance of the company contract management system.
  • Prepares and administers company contract documentation flow and renewals.
  • Provides general logistical help and assists the EVP in development and implementation of office systems and procedures as needed.
  • Respond to Council request for Certificate of Insurance coverage, as needed.
  • Monitor and manage Data Privacy Outlook inbox and respond to requests pursuant to applicable data privacy laws and corporate data privacy policies, as needed.
  • Works to reconcile monthly expenses for the EVP & General Counsel.
  • Attends meetings, records notes, and provides minutes, as needed. Meeting attendance will be coordinated through the EVP & General Counsel’s calendar, managed by this position.
  • Manages all aspects of the EVP & General Counsel’s internal and external meeting scheduling.
  • Maintains tasking checklist as requested by EVP & General Counsel.
  • Performs basic administrative tasks for maintaining contract files and databases.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Two to three years related experience or equivalent.
  • Certification from an ABA-approved paralegal training program or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent grammatical and spelling skills.
  • Proficient in Westlaw, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
