CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER 

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for leading and overseeing the manufacturing business, included all manufacturing and production activities, engineering and capital project execution, sales and marketing, and human resources. In coordination with the CEO, the COO will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day operations of the manufacturing business. The COO is responsible for leading execution of strategies to optimize the manufacturing business and deliver plan results. The COO is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and leadership. The COO drives operational excellence and execution of business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

•       Develops, communicates, and executes manufacturing business strategies with business leaders in production facilities, engineering, sales and marketing, and human resources that align with the company’s objectives and growth plans.

•       Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.

•       Ensure operations functions are managed by competent, seasoned, managers.

•       Promote collaboration to advance efficiency, output and profitability.

•       Drive cost reduction initiatives, monitor budgetary performance, and optimize resource allocation to achieve financial objectives.

•       Ensures that decisions and projects (i.e., staffing, organization development, and facilities) are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.

•       Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure execution.

•       Presents periodic & regular performance reports and metrics to the chief executive officer and other leadership.

•       Champions a culture of safety and compliance across all manufacturing and operational activities.

•       Provide coaching and mentoring to operations leaders to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

•       Champion and demonstrate Company core values.

 

 

 Required Qualifications

•       Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field

•       Masters degree in Business Administration

•       At least 25+ years of senior leadership experience in multi-plant, multi-region, complex heavy manufacturing operations: $2B+ revenue

•       Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and initiatives

•       Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results

•       Proficiency in financial analysis, budget management, and performance metrics tracking

•       Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-pressure environment, with a focus on delivering results and driving continuous improvement

ROSEBURG FOREST PRODUCTS is a privately held forest products company manufacturing lumber, plywood, MDF & LVL. At $2.5B in revenue, Roseburg owns and manages 600,000 acres of timberland on the PNW and SE.

 

The forest products industry is primarily a commodity business with thin margins and significant operating costs. The successful candidate will understand and appreciate the challenges of running such a business.
