Overview: Reporting to the President & CEO, the CFO leads financial operations for the nonprofit, collaborating with the Leadership Team to support programs and promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all financial transactions and accounting records in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee financial risk management, policies, and internal controls.
  • Review financial aspects of contracts and participate in negotiations.
  • Provide leadership in institutional planning and program development.
  • Integrate and manage financial systems, ensuring accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee donation records and support grant proposal preparation.
  • Manage transactions between various funds and prepare the annual budget.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board.
  • Lead capital budget preparation and staff the Capital Planning Committee.
  • Chair the Board Finance Committee and facilitate meetings.
  • Supervise the Director of Billing and Contracts for timely billing.
  • Lead strategic planning and oversee the Facilities department.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, financial management or business administration is required. CPA and/or MBA, preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years supervisory experience in progressively responsible senior financial administration, preferably for a nonprofit Social Services organization or school system.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience completing the Massachusetts Commonwealth Uniform Financial Statements and Independent Auditor’s Report (UFR).
  • Knowledge of accounting, administration, and compliance for publicly funded nonprofit organizations, including A-133 audits, and other state and federal reporting.
  • Proficiency with financial and accounting systems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, networking, communication skills with a proven track record of maintaining positive working relationships within and outside the organization
