Paralegal – Commercial, Employment, and Personal Injury

 

Our firm is seeking a litigation paralegal with 5+ years of experience handling personal injury and premise liability defense cases. We are looking for a team player who is professional, confident, and comfortable managing a large docket of cases. The person in this role will be responsible for managing the documents and information on case matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery, preparing motions, coordinating and calendaring hearings, deadlines, and depositions. 

 

The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of Federal and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, CM/ECF, and Texas E-Filing.  

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with and assist attorneys on a heavy caseload of litigation defense and investigative matters. 
  • Assist attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, and preparing trial binders. 
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents and correspondence.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing parties, court personnel, and vendors. 
  • Interview witnesses and interact with courts. 
  • Obtain records, maintain exhibits and witness lists, and prepare chronologies and summaries.
  • Schedule meetings and hearings, including court reports and videographers for depositions.
  • Record case time and expenses contemporaneously and meet minimum billing requirements.

 

Qualifications:  

 

  • Energetic individual with prior paralegal experience in litigation defense. 
  • Strong analytical skills, as well as advanced oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work with a high volume of matters and in a team environment and to adhere to billable hour requirements.
  • Highly self-motivated, possess strong initiative, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment effectively.
  • Proficient knowledge of CM/ECF, Texas E-file, and American Arbitration Association online systems.  
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite products, Coyote Analytics (preferred), and NetDocs (preferred).
