Prepare and operate various equipment and produce small scale batches within the Pilot Plant. Produce products for analysis and evaluation related to continuous improvement of costs and quality of current and future products.

Essential Job Functions

Complete pre-operational inspection; set-up and operate equipment; perform safety checks on equipment; troubleshoot machinery; provide root cause and recommendations; communicate safety and machinery issues to Supervisor Produce samples of finished products; weigh raw materials and/or ingredients for small scale batch production including calculations for batch adjustments Maintain and communicate, record of Pilot Plant ingredients and raw material inventory Monitor cooking and chilling cycles; document observations Record and track results on small scale batch production; communicate observations; recommend modifications from results Follow all food safety practices including but not limited to HACCP, GMP’S, and SSOP’s

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) Three (3) years’ experience in the meat or food manufacturing/processing industry

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Food, Animal Science or Life Sciences or equivalent experience Three (3) years’ experience in QA/Food Safety in meat or food manufacturing industry One (1) year maintenance experience related to food manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of USDA and Food Safety policies/programs The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently and within a team environment

Environmental/Working Conditions

Able to work in a cold environment of approximately 34˚ F - 75 F for prolonged periods of time Able to travel up to 15% of the time

Physical Requirements

While performing duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to walk. The associate is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities may be required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office levels to loud.
