Post Doctoral Scholar within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering within the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University will perform investigations on defects in metal additive manufacturing and materials joining to uncover mechanisms of defect formation under different processing conditions; performs investigations to support the NSRP project (GR132445) " Robotic arc DED manufacturing and repair of marine components", specifically characterization of nickel aluminum bronze microstructure and properties; communicates with project partners; prepares project reports and manuscript for publications; presents at project meetings and professional conferences; prepares funding proposals; mentors graduate students and undergraduates.
Required Minimum Education:
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related field
Desired Education:
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering
Required Experience:
Background in materials science and engineering with emphasis on metals research and materials characterization
Desired Experience:
Experience in metal additive manufacturing; Experience in diffraction and electron microscopy techniques to characterize metallic microstructures;Experience in process and materials modeling
