Lumber Outside Sales

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Outside Sales Representative to join our dynamic team at our lumber yard. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of sales experience in the coastal Florida region, with a strong ability to perform estimates and take-offs from blueprints. This role is essential in driving sales and building relationships with contractors, builders, and other clients in the area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Development: Actively seek out and engage potential clients, including contractors, builders, and architects, to promote our products and services.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Estimates and Take-offs: Review blueprints and specifications to provide accurate estimates and product recommendations tailored to client needs.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of our lumber products, pricing, and market trends to effectively communicate benefits and features to clients.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales support and warehouse staff to ensure timely order fulfillment and customer support.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in outside sales, selling lumber and/or building materials.
- Experience in the coastal Florida market.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, blueprints, and take-off techniques.
- Minimum 1 year of experience doing estimates for lumber and other framing materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Proficient in using sales software and tools for tracking leads and managing customer relationships.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
- Ability to perform detailed measurements and calculations related to construction projects.
