Role description:

As aStaff Designer, you will assist in the preparation and development of roadway design plans utilizing MicroStation, GeoPak, Corridor Modeling and OpenRoads according to ODOT guidelines and standards.

Projects will include all types of roadway facilities such as local roads, collector streets, arterials, freeways, interstates, and bridge replacement. Large projects will include various types of interchanges, from simple diamond to complex multi-level interchanges. Other types of projects include production of feasibility studies and functional design plans. Additional duties include the preparation of design calculations of quantities and preparation of project documents throughout all project phases.

Role accountabilities:

Strong Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Demonstrate proficiency in MicroStation, GeoPak, Corridor Modeling and OpenRoads. Familiarity with ODOT design standards, specifications, and policies. Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible individual who possess the initiative and ability to tackle new projects and challenges. Must have the ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent in appropriate area of design, 4+ years of roadway design CAD work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
