POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for driving technical accounting compliance and financial and operational controls. The position works closely with the Corporate Controller to provide financial direction for the business and direct day to day financial operations. The Assistant Controller will work alongside the broader finance team to timely and accurately report key performance indicators to monitor profitability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Alongside the Corporate Controller, develop and execute the financial control framework of the entire organization including the development of processes, policies, and controls to ensure the financial integrity of business reporting and achievement of financial goals, including driving consistency in process, and preparing for and executing audits.Ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP/IFRS standards and regulatory requirements across all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems. As well as ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.Consolidate, analyze and report financials in compliance with reporting regulations.General Ledger management.Build and create reporting packages that support in-depth understanding of the Company's financials. Work alongside Controller on global audits, operational tax, and US/International provisions, including transfer pricing.Subject Matter Expert and breadth of expertise Technical accounting. Serves as best practice/quality resource by staying aware of the latest technical accounting developments. Provides application guidance on accounting issues, consulting with the Corporate Controller. Manages & leads new standard implementation, as required.Explain key drivers of performance and underlying details (vs. reporting financials) and help translate this understanding into actionable priorities for the Company to drive growthLead, coach, engage, and develop team. Build collaborative teams and link performance to overall business objectives.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA preferred8+ years of progressive experience in a multinational manufacturing organization.2+ years of experience in a leadership position.PREFERRED EDUCTION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Preferred, CA or CPA Minimum of 6 years combined experience in a public accounting firm of national repute and industry experience with large multi-national firm.Proven technical accounting expertise, including a thorough understanding of U.S. GAAPStrong analytical and problem solving capabilities with a collaborative approach. Ability to influence peers and leadership team. Excellent leadership skills: humility to coach and serve the organization and clients; highly regarded for recruiting, championing diversity, mentoring, and coaching staff.Collaborative team player who builds trust and sharpens the thinking of those around them by challenging assumptions, adding a fresh perspective on a wide range of business issues and empowering ownership at every level to achieve excellence.Experience using mid to large scale accounting/ERP systems, including proficiency with general ledger, payables, receivables, reporting, budgeting, inventory, purchase order, sales order, payroll, and other modules.Executive presence with ability to influence and lead. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and be able to develop accurate, detailed analyses under time pressure.Associated Materials is a leader in exterior building products for residential and commercial remodeling and new construction markets.
