Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) is a public two-year and four-year degree granting institution founded in 1909 by the New Mexico Constitution. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredits NNMC. NNMC operates from two campuses in Espanola and El Rito and serves an average of 1,000 students per semester. As a full-time lecturer associated with the Department of Arts & Human Sciences (AHS), the individual will teach needed courses in Film and Digital Media Arts, in both the AA in FDMA and the BAIS: Media & Arts.
Potential courses include Video Production, Audio Production, Animation, Editing, Portfolio Development, Narrative Filmmaking, and other film and digital arts related production topics, screenwriting, or film history.Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach 8 courses per academic year (4 in the Fall and 4 in Spring) at the undergraduate level.
- Assist with student learning outcomes assessment when required for courses taught.
- Attendance of departmental meetings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Film, Digital Media Arts, or a related field.
- Experience in instructing studio courses at the college level.
- Demonstrated commitment to effectively engage a diverse student population, with evidence of successful mentoring of minoritized students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two or more years of experience teaching studio courses in film and digital media arts in higher education.
- Relevant work experience (within the past five years) in digital film/video production, motion graphics, and/or multimedia.
- Recognized participation in the respective field.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
In the case that courses are canceled, the College will place the lecturer in another course in related disciplines. If that is not possible, then the instructor will provide 36 additional hours of advising for each credit that was canceled. As a last resort and in consultation with the Department Chair, the Provost may approve a special project with a workload equivalent to the course that was canceled.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of digital media arts and interdisciplinary programs.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications including After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop.
- Ability to assist students in producing creative and professional portfolios.
- Demonstrated technical skills in video production, audio, and editing.
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students, and the public.
- Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a wide range of individuals (students, staff, faculty, and the public) and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to effectively provide a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Ability to address multiple learning styles in classroom teaching. Experience with a variety of teaching resources.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to attend to details and meet deadlines.
