Position Summary The person selected for the Communications Specialist - Sustainability position will provide leadership, guidance, and organizational structure/support for the East Division’s Sustainability Program. This position will play a key role in the development and implementation of the Division’s initiatives including building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in our local communities across the Division’s footprint. The position also provides limited administrative support to the Division’s senior leadership team on duties assigned. Key Responsibilities This position will work with Division and District management teams to identify opportunities and develop procedures, objectives, and content necessary to enhance community relationships with local organizations, neighborhood associations, government entities, and other persons or organizations that may have influence on Martin Marietta’s ability to expand or achieve its long-term operational objectives. Responsibilities will include the organization of community events and other Sustainability initiatives across multiple Districts and focused on education, philanthropy, and outreach within the local community. This position may also serve as a liaison between Martin Marietta and the community during public meetings or community events, highlighting the company’s contributions to the communities in which our facilities operate. This position will support internal story telling through the develop of electronic message board content based on Division sustainability undertakings. This position will track Sustainability initiatives, prepare associated reports and interface with other entities to identify strategic relationships and promote/educate the value and importance of aggregate mining and enhance the Martin Marietta brand. Qualifications and Skills BS in Communication, Public Relations, or associated field of study Experience in establishing/maintaining community involvement/outreach initiatives that builds strong relationships with the local community, governmental officials, and other stakeholders of influence. Proficient in MS applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) Proficient in the use of social media to communicate local community partnerships or provide education of Martin Marietta’s contribution to the local community. Excellent communication skills and a self-starter with the ability to work and travel without direct supervision. Excellent administrative skills in addressing the needs of the executive management team and support/assist in the routine duties within an office environment. The ability to manage and oversee multiple projects at one time. Possess a customer and team-focused approach with the ability to learn and adapt to changes quickly. Possess excellent written, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to travel within the southeastern United States approximately 20-30% of the time with some overnight stays.
