Job Title

Plant 22 Thomson - Extrusion Reliability Tech D - B Shift

Position Overview

Safety & Security Requirements:

1. Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.

2. Must report any unsafe conditions to supervision.

3. Must report all accidents no matter how slight to supervision immediately.

4. Must wear personal protective equipment at all times while in the designated areas.

5. Must comply with all plant and department safety rules and regulations.

Position Objective: Maintain and repair the Neumag Extrusion equipment.

Essential Duties (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):

1. Comply with procedures found in job requirement book.

2. Perform all job duties using safe work methods.

3. Comply with Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy.

4. Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Works overtime as required.

5. Comply with all environmental procedures and programs.

6. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

7. Perform all maintenance duties as specified.

a. Adjust belt tension and winder blade timing (see RQ1213). Replace winder blades if necessary (see RQ1222).

b. Change texturizers and jets (see RQ1214).

c. Torque, remove, and change packs (see Pack Change Procedure, GP0041).

d. Adjust winder speeds (see RQ1215).

e. Adjust cooling drum.

f. Maintain back flush and screen changing procedures (see RQ1221 and RQ1220).

g. Adjust spin finish level.

h. Change out winders.

i. Change aspirator hose, nozzle, and pressure relief valve.

j. Clear out faults (see Clearing Faults Procedure, RQ1219).

k. Inspect all ceramic guides.

l. Adjust winders for misdoffs, overlaps, or too many tails (see RQ1218).

m. Set tension on winders (see Adjustment of Winder Speed, RQ1215).

n. If a texturizer plug is out of control, perform procedure RQ1214.

o. When pulling a winder clean/mop any oil, yarn or trash out of the winder slot prior to replacing. Verify no oil drippings are left while pulling the winder to prevent slip hazards. This should be done everytime a winder is pulled.

8. Check for and stop any spin finish leaks. This includes any leaks from the spin finish tote, pumps, guides, and drip pans.

9. Keep spin finish return clean. Empty the return when necessary.

10. Act as team leader for your shift and be accountable for reclaim, oddlot, and yields. You may be asked to run the shift for brief periods while the supervisor is attending to other duties.

11. Complete Preventative Maintenance Checks according to MP2.

12. Troubleshoot problems and correct nonconformances/out-of-spec conditions involving denier, elongation, tenacity, percentage crimp, hot air shrinkage, percentage finish, and tac count. Refer to troubleshooting guides as needed and review with supervisor any action taken, any unexplained or unresolved out-of-spec conditions, and/or the source of the problem.

13. Ensure and maintain pack card procedure.

14. Assist operators as needed.

15. Remove winder covers and clean debris and lubricate as needed.

16. Complete Extrusion Downtime Form (GPF0014) and turn in to Supervisor at end of shift.

17. Check Spin Finish System any time the machine goes down for an undetermined length of time.

18. Perform any mechanical audits specified by supervisor.

19. Maintain clean and organized tool box.

20. Remove and clean cooling drum as needed. Ensure exhaust valve on back duct before disassembling.

21. Clean the Cooling Drum Exhaust Filters once per shift. Remove the Filter quickly to keep debris from getting pulled up to the exhaust fan. Clean debris off the filter and wash if needed. Replace filter.

Non-Essential Duties (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):

1. Assists other Extrusion department personnel as needed.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for eight (8) to twelve (12) hours.

2. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry, and reach frequently.

3. Ability to lift packages weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds frequently.

4. Ability to distinguish between colors.

Other Requirements:

1. Must have a high school education or its equivalent.

2. Must possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

3. Actively participates in the Quality P.R.I.D.E. Process.

4. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.

5. Must be able to work without close supervision.

6. Must demonstrate basic mechanical knowledge.

Training Requirements:

1. Must complete orientation training session.

2. Must complete job requirements training as defined in the training procedures.

3. Must complete EQA/Pride Training.

4. Must complete Quality System Training.

5. Must complete MSDS/Chemical Right To Know Training.

Tools, Equipment, & Material Requirements:

1. Responsible for safety equipment issued including safety glasses and earplugs.

2. Responsible for materials and supplies issued.

3. Responsible for equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.

4. Must provide required mechanical hand tools.

Work Shift

12 Hr rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Act Calendar, shift starts AM, days change only
