Data Center Operations Manager, DCC Communities
Found in: Talent US C2 - 2 weeks ago
We are looking for a manager with experience in people leadership, a passion to understand data center operations and infrastructure, and the drive and vision to take AWS Data Center Operations into the future.
As the Data Center Manager, you will lead a team of data center technicians and manage one or more physical sites within an AWS region. You will have managerial responsibility for safety, security, availability, scaling, costs and efficiency for their department. You will lead the team that is maintaining network and server equipment in a safe, secure and cost-effective manner across the region.
As the Data Center Operations Manager, you will manage across each function and dive deep into any given function as needed.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilities
You tasks include but are not limited to;
· Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Technicians responsible for maintaining network and server hardware
· Oversee the safety, security, availability, quality, and performance of the team, while driving a positive customer experience
· Strategic planning and forecasting; manage team and individual performance; delivering performance reviews, and address staffing needs
· Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures
· Mentor, train and develop career progression for direct reports and members of the organization
· Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective
· Coordinate support of change management resources in partnership with various other data center support teams
· Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the region and with peers globally
