Under supervision and direction of the Behavior Analyst the Behavior Intervention Specialist will participate as part of a collaborative, inter-professional team within the IRA. The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for the creation and implementation of individual behavior support plans for youth. Staff training and development are also critical functions of this role. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) a plus 

Essential Job functions:

responsible for assessment of skill deficits and behavioral challenges as well as skill building and intervention development in collaboration with teams for youth and young adults. the behavior intervention specialist also provides support to staff and families. utilize experience, education, age-specific knowledge and cultural competence in order to achieve positive and successful outcomes and improved quality of life for youth. conduct skill-based assessments and functional behavior assessments (fbas) in collaboration with the individuals, their families, staff, and clinical support in compliance with agency standards and program regulations. work with clinical support to develop measurement systems and trains others to collect data in order to measure the efficacy of the intervention and instructional strategies. graph and summarize data and present the data to team members to aid in making decisions on new and revisions to existing intervention and instructional strategies. act as a liaison with family, youth, staff and clinical support related to development of function-based behavioral programming with a focus on generalization and maintenance. provide teaching and training to youth, families, and staff as related to instructional strategies and behavior reduction strategies. This includes some evenings and weekends. ensure recommendations for behavior reduction or skill building intervention to improve quality of life are evidence-based either through research or support from clinical supervision. act as the primary contact for the behavior plan and is able to expertly and succinctly communicate at all levels both orally and in writing. develop, maintain and update all required documentation in a timely manner.

Other Duties:

actively participant in agency and team meetings, volunteering and serving on agency and community committees as needed. communicate, support and link Hillside’s mission, vision, values, goals, and strategies to everyday work and establishes clear, meaningful, challenging, and attainable objectives and expectations that are aligned with those of the organization ensure Hillside’s policies, procedures and all applicable governmental laws/regulations/guidelines are followed. able to work flexible shifts, with some evenings and weekends included in order to provide teaching, mentoring, and coaching across programming sites and shifts.

Requirements:

Masters Degree from a clinical field of psych, SW, School or Applied psych, Special Education, and training in assessment OR NYS license in mental health counseling with appropriate experience and have specialized training in FBAs and BSPs CPR Certification (or obtain within 60 days of hire) NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record to meet agency standards is required. Proof of any required license and/or accreditation will be required pre-employment and, as required, during employment. 1+ year of experience working in a human services environment

service knowledge: demonstrates a thorough knowledge of services provided both by the agency and by external service providers and maintains contacts as needed in order to efficiently access care for youth. collaborates effectively with all service providers, team members, family, and youth. advocacy: has well-developed skills as an advocate for children/youth/families in order to achieve the best, least-restrictive possible child/youth/family outcomes; communicates reasonable expectations and facilitates the achievement of results. regulatory knowledge: develops, maintains and utilizes a thorough knowledge of the legal and social rights of children, youth and parents to assure that these rights are understood and protected as needed. demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to cultural and social variations and shows respects for individual differences. promotes/supports concepts of family driven, youth guided care.

$20.18 Minimum Rate per hour, $30.28 Maximum Rate per hour, based on experience.
