A health services network in New York City is currently seeking a new Behavior Intervention Specialist to join their team in Brooklyn. In this role, the Behavior Intervention Specialist will be responsible for providing oversight of psychiatric medications and providing written reports to the Treating Psychiatrist.

About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: 10am to 6pm; 11am to 7pm; or 12pm to 8pm

Responsibilities:

The Behavior Intervention Specialist will:

  • Conduct annual and semi-annual IDT reviews of individuals to report on their behavioral needs and progress
  • Develop and implement behavior support plans and intervention strategies for individuals
  • Train and monitor Direct Support Professionals in consistently implementing these behavior support plans and intervention strategies
  • Prepare and conduct training/in-services for individual and facility-related issues, behavior interventions, etc.
  • Conduct regular observations of activities in the residence and provide written reports to the Residence Manager
  • Provide written reports to treating psychiatrists regarding behavioral progress.
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from a program in a Clinical or Treatment field of Psychology, Social Work, and/or Psychology
  • Experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavioral support plans and/or providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans
  • Excellent teaching and modeling skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written abilities (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
