Department Summary

The Facilities department oversees all aspects of building maintenance and infrastructure on main campus as well as our Law Center in downtown Dallas— totaling over 300,000 square-feet of conditioned space.
The department consists of two divisions: Facilities Operations and Custodial Services.
It is our desire to provide excellent customer service to you and hope that you will feel free to call or visit us at any time.
The Mission of the Facilities department is to provide a safe, clean, productive, and well-maintained physical environment for the University Community, by planning and delivering professional services that are based on sustainable and collaborative outcomes that support the mission of the University.

Position Overview

This position supports the Facilities Director and manages the morning custodians.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years' of related experience with some experience in a lead or supervisory role; or any equivalent combination of experience, education or training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to keep records and complete forms accurately
  • Ability to direct and manage the work of others
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: measuring)
  • Physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, lifting, and operating equipment
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed

Job Duties:

  • Monitors the use of all university equipment assigned to his/her area and assists in conduct of annual inventory.
  • Observes safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
  • Supervises and assists in the work of custodians engaged in janitorial tasks.
  • Performs sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing and buffing floors, hallways, and stairways. 
  • Performs cleaning and dusting of walls, ceilings, windows, window sills, woodwork , and other building surfaces. 
  • Performs cleaning and sanitation of rest rooms, commodes, urinals, lavatories, drinking fountains, and other fixtures.
  • Picks up and removes of trash and waste from buildings, and cleaning of waste receptacles.
  • Reports conditions and situations requiring the attention of Facility Technicians. 
  • Distributes and monitors the use of supplies to custodians. 
  • Participates in new employee orientation program 

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 6:00am - 3:00pm; as needed
