Job Purpose:
Quality Technician evaluates and reports product conformance relative to established quality standards to maintain a high degree of quality and productivity.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains a high awareness of personal safety at all times, keeping work in a neat and orderly manner,Verify that product features match requirements defined on work order, drawings and/or work instructions,Visually inspect product to ensure manufacturing standards are met,Functionally test product to ensure proper operation,Ensure appropriate safety, regulatory and other labels are applied and straight,Complete inspection record for each product inspected, document, and communicate findings to appropriate personnel,Using applicable inspection procedures, inspects internal/external product for conformance to Engineering drawings and specifications,Reads and interprets drawings and specifications to ensure product quality,Understands various production processes to ensure highest degree product quality,Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and repaired as necessary,Maintains records of data pertaining to quality defect causes and solutions to be used in the resolution of future production problems,Investigates sources and causes of inferior materials and products, both finished and in-process, and discuss with appropriate managers,Inspects fixtures from Tool Room for quality and reliability,Conducts and reports on incoming, in process, and final audits,Troubleshoots and determines root cause for non-conforming product,Notifies lead person or supervisor of any problems with procedures or equipment to maintain the highest degree of quality, inventory accuracy and productivity,Assist in SPC (Statistical Process Control) projectsAssist in developing and implementing quality programs and procedures,Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Skills Needed:
High School Diploma or equivalent1-2 years of directly related experienceStrong verbal and written communicationBasic understanding of engineering drawings and specificationsKnowledge of basic measuring instrumentsDetail orientedAssociate degree or CQT (Certified Quality Technician) or equivalent experience Coordinate measuring machine experienceFamiliar with Microsoft OfficeExperience in an ISO 9000 environmentQuality Assurance experience in a weld/metal fabrication environmentEquipment Used:
Coordinate measuring machine, precision measuring equipment, general inspection measuring tools, standard hand tools.
Working Conditions:
Will be working primarily on production floor in a hands-on environment. Work area can be excessively noisy. Must be able to lift 35lbs. and occasionally lift 50lbs. with assistance. Work may also involve repetitive motion.
