About the role:
  • Principal Engineer is a senior technical role. Candidates are expected to bring a strong technical background with depth in at least one area of CPU design.
  • This role requires strong behavioral and interpersonal skills to supplement your technical background.
  • You will be expected to work collaboratively with counterparts from other groups including architecture, design verification, and silicon engineering.

What you'll achieve:
  • You can expect to own and lead feature development in all phases of design from initial definition through implementation in system verilog.
  • Candidates are expected to have a solid understanding of design verification concepts and an ability to partner with the DV team to create robust and well-verified designs.
  • Equally important is an understanding of physical design and the ability to partner with the silicon engineering team to create designs that are highly optimized for high speed, low power, and area efficiency.

About you:
  • MSEE (or equivalent) in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 6+ years of semiconductor design experience
  • Experience with CPU microarchitecture, logic and RTL design implemented with low power design techniques
  • Expert knowledge of current high-speed logic design techniques, including ability to foresee physical implementation and timing challenges during early development
  • High competence in digital design/hardware design languages, ideally Verilog/System Verilog
  • An innovative and creative mindset with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to create, measure, and evaluate tradeoffs between micro-architectural solutions to optimize for power, frequency and area
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work collaboratively in a team to get things done in a fast-paced environment

The full base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $225,600, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $146,300 and $243,800.
