DIRECTOR – TEACHER LICENSURE AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
TRUMAN COLLEGE
Truman College is seeking a Director-Teacher Licensure and Professional Development to lead Truman College’s Center of Excellence in Education’s efforts in educator licensing, such as endorsements and ISBE approved trainings, as well as professional development for district-wide education initiatives, including the Education Workforce Center, S.E.E.D. (Supporting Emerging Educator Development) Scholarship, Early Childhood Lab Schools, Middle College, and the Chicago Early Learning Workforce Scholarship (CELWS).
The Director-Teacher Licensure and Professional Development markets current academic offerings to licensed educators; implements strategies to recruit educators into programs; and provides needed support services to ensure their progress towards program completion once enrolled. Performs related duties as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Develops and manages professional development opportunities tailored to meet the diverse needs of professionals in the field of education across levels and organizations, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices through the Education Workforce Center (EWC).
·Implements recruiting strategies to attract and engage educational institutions/organizations and education professionals to increase participation in the EWC’s professional development programs.
·Works with department chairs staff serving prospective and current Career and Technical Education (CTE) students enrolled in education related programs by conducting detailed informational sessions, providing proactive outreach, personalized follow-up, and other duties as assigned to support program success.
·Collaborates with academic advisors to provide CTE students with comprehensive support services including the enrollment process, monitoring academic progress, tracking progress towards program completion, and providing timely intervention and support as needed to ensure student success.
·Collaborates with other departments, such as Marketing and Finance, to manage the various administrative aspects of the program including overseeing marketing initiatives, financial reporting, grant budgeting, and program compliance.
·Recruits potential participants to the college’s educational licensure programs and Education Workforce Center offerings, ensuring a diverse and qualified pool of candidates.
·Contributes to program iteration and growth by analyzing feedback and evolving educational needs, offering valuable insights and recommendations for optimizing program pathways.
·Creates processes and systems (e.g., admission process, access to loaner resources, access to scholarships) to enhance the cohort experience, improving engagement and outcomes for cohort of licensed teachers enrolled in programs and classes at Truman College.
·Works with Admissions, Financial Aid, and Faculty to oversee cohort management, including coordination of cohort scheduling, registration processes, and providing scholarship support, ensuring smooth program implementation and accessibility.
·Develops informational materials to promote S.E.E.D. Scholarship Program to potential applicants in collaboration with the Director of S.E.E.D. Scholarship.
·Supports tracking and analysis of cross-institutional scholarship metrics for Licensed Teacher Programming, including participation rates, course completion, and attainment of degrees and endorsements, to assess program effectiveness.
·Assists in special initiatives and improvement efforts led by the Dean of Education and Teacher Programs, contributing expertise and insights to advance the department’s goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
·Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related field
·Five or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in an educational setting
·A combination of education and experience maybe taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials.
·Experience in developing academic and professional development programs for education professionals
·Experience in professional development and facilitation
·Knowledge of Illinois educator licensing processes, including knowledge of Illinois Educator Licensure, Endorsements, and Credentials requirements
·Knowledge of current trends and best practices in teacher licensure and professional development
·Familiarity with the Chicago Public Schools landscape
·Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
·Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including educators, administrators, students, and external partners
·Strong organizational and project management skills
·Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
·Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
