This grant-funded full-time administration position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with evening, weekend, and overnight hours as necessary. This role will also require travel in and around the region and potentially out-of-state to meet with and/or execute student events. Position Summary Kellogg Community College (KCC) proudly hosts the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program, a cornerstone of our commitment to student success since 1982, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Our TRIO SSS program serves 250 program participants (students), providing enhanced programs and supportive services designed to foster a strong sense of belonging and community. Housed within the vibrant Center for Student Success, the TRIO SSS program operates alongside essential services such as tutoring, disability support, and academic testing, catering to the diverse needs of our student body, including special populations like Perkins and Kellogg Kickstart participants.As a Program Advisor for TRIO SSS, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to empower students. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Student Success, you will collaborate with a dedicated team to meet grant guidelines and ensure program excellence. Utilizing a comprehensive case management approach, you will provide intensive coaching to help students navigate the academic landscape, while creating and delivering engaging programming that builds a sense of community. This includes organizing activities, workshops, tours, and cultural events that enrich the TRIO SSS student experience.
A key responsibility of the Program Advisor is to connect students with campus and community resources that support their academic success and completion. Additionally, you will assist the Director by providing critical grant data, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the TRIO SSS program.
Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis. Physical Demands The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 – 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree obtained from an accredited college or university. One (1) year of experience working with populations similar to those that TRIO and other special populations projects serve (first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities). Working knowledge and use of student information management system. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Preferred but not Required Master’s degree obtained from an accredited college or university. Experience in higher education setting. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, administration and outside agencies. Experience advocating for underserved populations within areas such as policy, programming, and campus culture. Former TRIO participant or similar background. Proposed Salary According to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, the 2024-2025 annual salary range for a Manager 2 position, $52,927 to $66,156 to start.
