Corteva Agriscience is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and dynamic scientist with a strong track record of innovation on plant genome editing to join us in this exciting role. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or a related field, have extensive experience with CRISPR/Cas9 or similar gene-editing technologies, and a passion for sustainable agricultural solutions. Responsibilities include conceiving, designing, and conducting experiments, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative solutions for crop improvement.
Responsibilities – What You Will do:
Lead and/or participate in projects that push the boundaries of genome modification technologies. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, tracking, and reporting of plant genome editing outcomes as they relate to project objectives. Work with scientists in the trait and breeding communities to apply cutting edge genome technologies to drive advancements in their fields. Apply your technical expertise in genome editing and DNA repair to develop and optimize existing and novel gene editing tools for use in different crop species. Scout and evaluate novel genome editing technologies. Communicate results from the scientific activities you lead to internal and external audiences including conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal articles. Follow safety guidelines and maintain operational excellence through quality management and good housekeeping. Work in a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative environment comprising internal cross-functional teams and external partners.
Qualifications
Education:
A Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, genetics, gene editing, or a related field, with at least three years of industry or postdoctoral experience. Applicants with a M.S. and 8-10 years’ related experience will also be considered.
What Skills You Need:
Extensive knowledge and understanding of CRISPR genome editing technologies, and its wide-ranging applications from gene knock-out to epigenetic editing. Experience with vector design and construction methodologies and plant transformation (both particle gun and Agrobacterium-mediated delivery) within the context of CRISPR genome editing. A demonstrated ability to tackle complex problems, think critically, lead teams to gain novel insights, and foster a culture of innovation. Capability to manage ambiguity and operate effectively in fast-paced and risk-taking environments. Creative and strategic thinking, a willingness to take bold risks, and the ability to learn from failure. A collaborative mindset, open to sharing and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback. Ability to work independently while fulfilling responsibilities in a highly collaborative environment. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals and audiences.#LI-AB1
