Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced scientist to join our team as a Genome Editing Application Scientist. This role will involve conceiving, designing, and conducting experiments using CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technologies to develop innovative solutions for crop improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and/or participate in projects that push the boundaries of genome modification technologies, responsible for planning, execution, tracking, and reporting of plant genome editing outcomes.
- Collaborate with scientists in the trait and breeding communities to apply cutting-edge genome technologies to drive advancements in their fields.
- Apply technical expertise in genome editing and DNA repair to develop and optimize existing and novel gene editing tools for use in different crop species.
- Scout and evaluate novel genome editing technologies.
- Communicate results from scientific activities to internal and external audiences, including conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain operational excellence through quality management and good housekeeping.
- Work in a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative environment comprising internal cross-functional teams and external partners.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Gene Editing, or a related field, with at least three years of industry or postdoctoral experience. Applicants with a M.S. and 8-10 years' related experience will also be considered.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of CRISPR genome editing technologies and its applications.
- Experience with vector design and construction methodologies and plant transformation within the context of CRISPR genome editing.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex problems, think critically, lead teams to gain novel insights, and foster a culture of innovation.
- Capability to manage ambiguity and operate effectively in fast-paced and risk-taking environments.
- Creative and strategic thinking, a willingness to take bold risks, and the ability to learn from failure.
- A collaborative mindset, open to sharing and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback.
- Ability to work independently while fulfilling responsibilities in a highly collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals and audiences.
