Overview
This position is a full-time faculty position as Instructor of Speech/Language Pathology. As a full-time faculty member, this role will be responsible for teaching 4 undergraduate classes during the fall and spring semesters in their field of specialization, keep office hours, assist in revision of curriculum as needed, advise students, and conduct all other duties associated with being a full-time faculty member. Under the direction of the Department Chair, this role is a member of a professional team with the goal of adequately preparing students for graduate study in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following tasks:
Monitor and report institutional outcomes for the Middle States Commission. Monitor curriculum quality. Mentor adjunct faculty. Complete annual self reports. Collect and submit program data. Serving on college-wide committees. Attending functions such as meetings, orientations, and open-house assemblies. Abide by responsibilities of teaching, service, and scholarship as articulated in the Faculty Handbook. Respond daily to student emails and inquiries. Teach four undergraduate courses per semester—fall and spring. Maintain office hours. Advise assigned group of students. Keep current in teaching field—subject matter and pedagogy—and propose curriculum changes as needed. Any other faculty-related projects or duties as assigned by the Dean or Department Chair. Write recommendation letters and provide guidance for graduate school applications. Maintain certification and licensure by completing required continuing education. Provide assistance in planning, implementing, evaluating, modifying, and assessing current and new programs. Assist with overseeing the development of workshops/presentations, recruitment events and materials, new student orientation, business development opportunities, and website/ social media promotional initiatives and postings. Assist with the mentoring of adjunct faculty. Assist with the school’s assessment and strategic plans as needed. Any other administrative-related projects or duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Qualifications
Degrees
Master’s level or Doctorate level degree in Speech-language Pathology. Five years of clinical experience. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in teaching/academia.
Certifications
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and state licensure.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to work with and be respectful of individuals and teams of diverse academic, religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to collaborate across departmental units. Team player with positive attitude. Creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit. Effective communicator in oral and written mediums. Computer Literacy and competence to include remote teaching, and use of the Touro One Portal and Canvas.
Maximum Salary
USD $57,200.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
