Summary

The University of Michigan Procurement Services has an exciting opportunity for Intern positions. We invite qualified candidates to apply for these positions and join the procurement team to support departments on campus, handling purchases of products and services. This position will report directly to Procurement Services managers and/or supervisors.

The selected candidate will follow 1 role-specific path. Please indicate on your cover letter which path you are interested in:

AI Development (Chuck)Design, code, test, debug, document, and maintain web-based and AI-driven applications critical to the procure-to-pay process.Develop technical handbooks documenting new applications' design, code, and troubleshooting aspects.This position offers the opportunity to combine solid programming skills with emerging AI and machine learning technologies, contributing significantly to the advancement of our services. Project /Supplier Management (Elizabeth)Support expansion of virtual payment program which enables card-based payment to suppliers to streamline the procure-to-pay processUse procurement systems to research potential suppliers/support lead generation Support supplier recruitment and onboarding activities in partnership with JPMorgan Chase Property Control (Agustin)Update capital equipment records in Peoplesoft Asset Management to ensure federal audit complianceAdhock reporting and analysis to ensure accuracy of financial records in Business ObjectsCreate scorecard for capital equipment spot checking process and reporting to campus Purchasing (Annie)Support procurement agents with purchase requests including but not limited to RFP, RFQ, and RFI.Review requests to ensure clarity, appropriateness of purchase, and compliance with bid specifications. Assist the procurement team in presenting purchasing options to end-user departments. Support with document scanning, storage, and data entry into procurement systems.Work with Procurement Agents to address and quickly resolve questions from the campus community.

Required Qualifications*

Area of study in logistics, business, data analytics, or procurement experience preferred.  Ability to provide excellent Customer Service. Ability to continually learn new processes and procedures. Proven ability to coordinate several tasks simultaneously. Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills.  Proven research and problem solving skills necessary.  Superior verbal, written and electronic communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.  Experience working with or in procurement is desirable, but not required.
