General Description

The Position

SAIS Europe is currently seeking to fill a tenured faculty position in European Politics. We are especially interested in scholars whose work is relevant to the linkage between domestic and international politics. While we welcome applications from all disciplines, preference will be given to scholars who conduct empirical research and have a background in political science, sociology, history, and related disciplines. The position will be at the associate or full professor rank with tenure. The position is based at the Bologna, Italy campus of SAIS. Candidates will be expected to teach primarily in the master's programs in International Affairs and European Public Policy. The expected teaching load is 3 classes per academic year.

Candidates will be expected to have an active research agenda, a strong publication record and be among the leading scholars of their field. Preference will be given to candidates who combine outstanding research, proven excellence in teaching, policy relevance, and experience in the public square. The appointments will ideally start on 1 July, 2025.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination.
